HOA #1 GOLF - SPECIAL NOTES AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Speed of Play

Under normal conditions, each hole should be played in an average of 12½ minutes.  When the course is restricted to cart path only, play should take no more than an average of 14½ minutes per hole.  The course rangers are authorized to enforce these times.  Following are suggestions to speed play:

·               Carry an extra ball in your pocket in case you need to hit a provisional ball.

·               Think ahead and carry a couple of extra clubs to your ball so you do not have to return to the cart to get a different club.  Also, take your putter with you when you are near the green.

·               Mark your scorecard at the next tee and not the hole you have just completed.

·               Move along – talk while you are riding in the cart.  When you get to your ball, be ready to hit.

·               PLAY READY GOLF (if you are ready and no one is in the way, hit it).

Out of Bounds and Hazards

Any areas that are not marked as hazards or out of bounds should be played Through the Green.  Through the Green is any area on the course, except the greens, tee boxes and all hazards on the course.  Remember that out of bounds stakes may not be moved under any circumstances.  Hazard stakes and the 150-yard markers may be moved if they are in your way but must be replaced after your shot.  If your ball strikes a stake or a 150-yard marker, it is considered a rub of the green and you must play the ball from where it lies after you have hit either.

On some holes, out of bounds is marked with white paint on the outside edge of the cart path. You do not get relief from the property line walls, which are all designated as out of bounds.  You may take a penalty stroke for an unplayable lie from the wall and drop within one club length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole. Where hazard stakes and lines both appear, the hazard line is the margin, the stakes are indicators.

Designated Flower Beds or Decorative Rock

Any designated flowerbeds or decorative rock areas, which are maintained as such, shall be played as free relief - you may drop within one club length of the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty.  However, when the ball lies in another condition inside the designated flower bed or decorative rock and a shot can not be played from that other condition, a one stroke penalty is incurred; reference Rule 24-2 (note exception).
